So, the midterm exams are over. There are still two months left until the end of the first half of the first year of high school.

A new year is coming. 2023 is about to become the past, and I will be celebrating my 16th birthday in just over a month.

However... unfortunately, time never stops.

Time flies like an arrow. Your past keeps increasing, your future keeps decreasing, and the unknown possibilities will only become fewer and fewer, while the regrets that cannot be changed accumulate like mountains.

Midterm Exams#

Overall, the results of this midterm exam are considered acceptable, with an improvement of over 100 places compared to the monthly exams.

However, the scores of the three subjects, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, have caused me concern: I, someone who has chosen computer science with a focus on physics, chemistry, and biology, failed Physics and Chemistry?!?!?!

This exam shows that my performance in liberal arts subjects is almost completely ahead of that in science subjects. However, due to my major and future employment prospects, I cannot choose liberal arts. After my classmates found out about my English scores, they were all envious, but I don't understand what's so special about being good at English: there are no special privileges for being good at English, there are no majors that I like, and even the October issue of "World Affairs" reported that the University of Science and Technology of China is "planning to cancel undergraduate majors in English, etc."

This inevitably reminds me of Yunyou Jun, You Yuxi, Sukaka, and others, especially You Yuxi. I really envy You Yuxi's technical skills and often fantasize about when I can become as capable as him. Even Restent, who is not much different from me, has learned Nuxt.js and even rewritten his blog. As for me now, I don't even understand Vue.

16th Birthday#

My birthday is on January 5th.

Since I started elementary school, I have always celebrated my birthday at school.

Turning 16 years old has a special meaning for me: I can create my own WeChat public account and let more people see my daily life; I can register lihaoyu.cn, cakemc.top, and 230225.xyz for website record filing, marking a milestone for my blog; I can make many decisions in life on my own, without having to rely on my parents to make them for me...

But celebrating my birthday at school is not a good thing for me.

First, I can't openly share my joy with everyone on social media, and second, I can't enjoy a carefree day, but instead have to write a bunch of biology homework.

Let me complain a bit, even without biology class and biology self-study, my biology teacher still assigns a large amount of homework. So much that free study time is completely occupied, and there is no time to do homework for other subjects.

Self-reflection, Far from Satisfactory#

A few days ago, I secretly read Li Heling's diary posted on his blog on the all-in-one computer in the classroom. To be honest, compared to me, his handwriting is really good. Moreover, some of his diary entries are in pure English, while others are in Chinese, which had a great impact on me.

We are all high school students, why is there such a big gap...

There is a female classmate in our class who is an art major, and she is best at drawing and also writes well. As for myself, not only is my handwriting terrible, but I also have almost no special talents.

Unnecessary Words#

Due to some reasons, I have been using Edge as my main browser, but as time goes by, Edge has become more and more bloated. Because of this, recently I started to gradually migrate back to Chrome and use Chrome Canary as my main browser on Windows.

I have to say, with Material You and the Mica title bar, Chrome looks much better now (I personally don't particularly like Material Design 2, but Material Design 3 does fit my aesthetic).

I changed the background images of my blog. The images for light and dark modes are works by Sakaki and Futen on Pixiv, respectively.
